DESCRIPTION: Up to 12mm. These little jumping beasties can be seen all around rhododendron bushes, usually in great numbers. They are easily recognised by their yellow head and legs, green thorax and red stripes on the green forewings. BEHAVIOUR: Usually seen on the leaves of the foodplant where adults and young feed on the sap. When approached they annoyingly jump away. DISTRIBUTION: Mainly southerly in Britain but expanding its range. HABITAT: Generally parks and gardens. PERIOD: June to November. |
